Use (as mission maker)
To best describe how LEA works, we create a mission in Arma 2 Editor, composed of 1 USMC Officer, 2 USMC infantery group, 1 UNO infantery group, 1 Bradley, 1 tent, 1 ammunition box see. We modify Name & Description attributes of the officer see and the mission ones see.
Download the sample mission here.
Import mission
Open LEA, in the Mission Folder, select Extract mission from .pbo and check the blank Import mission.sqm into editor. The message "Mission successfully extracted from pbo" appears. see. Use the command Import mission.sqm if the mission isn't in a pbo archive.
Attributes visualization
In the Mission menu, select Properties to see mission attributes. Left list contains the different units, listed by side and group. Select Switch unit type to switch between playable units, IA, or empty unit. Select Change Display to see Name , Description , Displayname & Classname unit attributes. In the sample mission, the USMC officer attributes are: Name: Officer Description: Peter Anderson Displayname: Officer Classname: USMC_Soldier_Officer.
Unit assignment
In order to edit unit loadout, You must attribute them a Name. Into unit list, ones indicated as "Not Assigned" don't have Name. This action can be made manually or automatically.
- Manual Assignment: double click on the unit and fill the field Name & Description. see
- Automatic Assignment: select unit then select "Auto assign units" into Mission menu. Select this unit/this group/this side to assign respectively this unit, all unit of this group, or all units of this side. see
In the example, the unit of group 1 and 2 of West side have been auto-assigned. The units of group 1 of Resistance side have been assigned manually. see
Note: Re-assignment operation leads to a modification of the mission.sqm file by LEA. If this mission is opened inside ArmA 2 Editor, you MUST reload it to take modifications into account.
Define Preferences
Into Mission menu, select Preferences. In the sample mission, select "ear-plugs", "PRC343", "Compass", "Map", "Bandage" et "Morphine" see.Selected objects are now added into all playable units loadouts of the mission. see
Edit loadouts
Loadout edition can be done manually or automatically with profile application:
- Manual Edition: Select unit and follow same process viewed into Create Profile
- Automatic Edition: Select unit then click on Apply profile. Select this unit/this group/this side to assign respectively this unit, all unit of this group, or all units of this side. see
Loadout edition acts on human unit, vehicule cargo, ammunition box, etc. In the sample mission, select "Empty" into Switch unit type, and add weapons into the ammunition box, the tent and the Bradley. see
Remark 1: If for an assigned unit (= having a field Name), you don't want to modify default loadout, check the box "Do not script this loadout" see. If you don't, unit loadout will be erased.
Remark 2: LEA can be used with any unit or vehicule addon. If a unit is not identified by LEA, its Displayname will be seen as "Unknown". Also LEA won't be able to dstinguish if unit is playable or if it is a vehicle. To do this you must select the "vehicle" button in order to fill in the vehicle cargo see.
Add/remove units
We add a UNO group into the sample mission with Name field like s5, s6, s7, s8 and a USMC unit with Name field "Captain" and Displayname "Billy the kid" to the unit "Officer" see. The mission is then saved into ArmA 2 editor. In LEA Mission menu select Refresh see. The unit list is now updated see.
Add loadouts to mission
1. After loadout edition, select Generate loadout.sqf into Mission menu.
2. Select the destination folder (default mission folder) then Open.
3. The message "Also insert call for loadout.sqf script into init.sqf?" appears. Select Yes to insert loadout initialization script call into init.sqf file. If it doesn't exist, it will be created automatically. see
