OHPLA and VME PLA mod

Hello,

I don't speak chinese, but I have come here on behalf of the community at Bohemia interactive's forums to find information on the status of Operation Halfmoon and the VME PLA mod for Arma 2. This video has caused rampant speculation that a high quality mod has been released.

Please could someone tell me if this mod is available for download? Is work still continuing?

Hey guy, nice to meet you here.
AFAIK, Halfmoon is included in ACEX, that means it is a part of ACE2. So you need to download ACE2 at first if you wanna to play halfmoon. BI forum has more info about how to downloading ACE2.

However, it's only available for A1. And actually, there're two kind of PLA MOD developed by two different organization and I'm sure you'll be interested with the PLA mod developed by ChinaVME as well, although it hasn't been released currently, it's still an awesome work won't be worse than halfmoon. VME develop team is working hard on it.

I think I read that ACE 1.5 (release for Operation Arrowhead) no longer supports OH PLA due to some issues.
This thread indicates it's been deprecated.

But since no one at BI forums has spoken to fromz we don't know what's happening to OH PLA and the ACE team seem to have given up on him. Has anyone on this forum spoken to fromz recently?

Regarding your Arma 1 work, would it be possible for you to make an announcement with download links in the Arma 1 section of BI forums? That way the news sites should pick it up and a wider audience will have the opportunity to play with the PLA once more.

There's been a long time he didn't post any thread about further development of PLA halfmoon on A2 due to the piracy and someone's illegal announcement of PLA work. Just like the vedio you linked, you can found some evidence that such excellent work no longer belongs to its origional author any more not only because the A2 mod maker seems to be hard to protect their work in China, but also less people know about A2 than those in euro and U.S. caused we always fight alone.

Now, most Chinese addon makers are cleverer than ever, they know how to protect their work from piracy and illegal announcement from others, so, VME PLA MOD comes to live again!

Btw, as for A1 pla mod being downloaded in BI forum, I guess Alex.XP will try available means to pick it up again. lol

Well if you have evidence of a third party breaking the BI tools EULA (e.g. selling mods commercially or using models in another game), Bohemia Interactive themselves may be able to do something about it.

However, I see that stopping people infringing your own copyright is still going to be a problem.

Ah.... AFAIK, the problem is neither VME team or Fromz not able to protect their work nor someone broke BI tools EULA. The reality is more complicated than that, you see, most part of the A2 PLA MOD propagandizing TV show on CCTV7 are made by Alex.XP and Fromz, (Alex.XP and Fromz know more details than I) To my knowledge, their purpose are simple, just let more people know about A2 and the PLA training system which they worked hard on in China. Unfortunately, They didn't realized that their work has already been announced the ownership by other IT company until the TV show came out, those IT software company who even didn't know what A2 is, can dibs on them to the Intellectural Property Rights, this is the main reason, and with some other illegal announcement of their work even include A2! (Really ridiculous, but who cares it in China?) VME & Fromz depressed.
No wonder the origional author has stopped the contineus development on PLA for quite a long time because this is really a great impact to them, they feel tired not for model making, but for the struggle of their IPRs.

While you know, we're always the weaker in some special circunstances.

Btw, unlike european or U.S. A2 is still a fringe game in China......

Hanging on, guys! The BIS next DLC might be PLA. Though it's not confirmed, it's quite positive.

Really? I'm just worry that players' voices may not be put onto BIS's next DLC schedule, on the contrary, the extension of ACR is more likely.
